SBTC Hires New Interns

The Southside Business Technology Center (SBTC) in partnership with Virginia Tech hired Ms. Pamela Blocher and Mr. Tim Berg as Business Interns to satisfy the growing demand of Southside businesses for SBTC consulting services. Since July 2005 the SBTC has successfully delivered ten and currently is working on five management consulting projects for Southside businesses. In addition, SBTC is negotiating ten future consulting projects with other local and regional companies.

SBTC offers top quality management consulting services to local and regional companies and entrepreneurs for non-profit fees. SBTC areas of expertise include, but are not limited to: business planning, market research and analysis, financial forecasting, operational planning, etc. The center also offers internship opportunities to students from local and regional colleges and universities who are exposed to real business problems and learn to enhance their strategic thinking.

Ms. Pamela Blocher and Mr. Tim Berg are senior undergraduate business students at Ferrum College and plan to graduate in May 2006. Blocher plans to major in business and minor in performing arts. She has an impressive educational record and now she wants to put her theoretical knowledge into real life application through the SBTC internship. Berg has a 3.3 GPA and an already extensive business experience, both as a professional and as a volunteer. Berg views the SBTC internship as an experience which will help him to decide which business profession to pursue in the future. He will major in business and minor in computer technology. Both interns will be assigned to specific client projects and gain valuable professional experiences through working with real businesses.

SBTC welcomes student applications for different types of internship opportunities from all local and regional colleges and universities. To view additional information please go to SBTC’s website www.southsidebtc.org or call Eva Doss at 276-638-2523 ext. 210.
