The Southside Business Technology Center (SBTC) in partnership with Virginia Tech opened its Martinsville office on May 17, 2005 at the West Piedmont Business Development Center. The SBTC offers management consulting services to local and regional companies and entrepreneurs for non-profit fees.
The mission of the BTC is to provide top quality business assistance to existing and emerging organizations, individuals and companies seeking to enhance their competitiveness through technology. The center also offers internship opportunities to students from local and regional colleges and universities who are exposed to real business problems and learn to enhance their strategic thinking.
Since SBTC’s opening in May 2005, the organization has already delivered valuable Business Plans and Market Research and Analysis reports to Martinsville companies. Amongst SBTC’s first clients was HerDesign, Inc. – a unique dynamic web-design company offering a wide range of web design services, for which SBTC developed a business plan and market research analysis to identify the company’s growth potential, target markets and market penetration strategies including financial forecasts. SBTC also developed a business plan for All Trust, NM – a freight brokerage company located in the incubator – to support the company’s growth plans and the introduction of a new service line to the core business.
Currently the center is developing additional market research and analyses, business plans and financial forecasts for several local companies. Additional services are also available based on the customers’ needs. The center is continuously recruiting new clients to help them with management issues and new interns who are interested in solving real business problems.
