Southside Business Technology Center year end results
The Southside Business Technology Center (SBTC) in partnership with Virginia Tech opened its Martinsville office on May 17, 2005 at the West Piedmont Business Development Center. The SBTC offers management consulting services to local and regional companies and entrepreneurs for non-profit fees.
The mission of the BTC is to provide top quality business assistance to existing and emerging organizations, individuals and companies seeking to enhance their competitiveness through technology. The center also offers internship opportunities to students from local and regional colleges and universities who are exposed to real business problems and enhance their strategic thinking.
Since the beginning of the current fiscal year starting in July 2005 the SBTC has delivered valuable business plans, market research, and financial analysis reports and other result driven consulting projects to ten Southside companies. The projects had positive, measurable impact on the companies’ bottom lines including, but not limited to: cuts in operating expenses, securing additional capital, improved operational processes, and increased sales.
The SBTC is currently developing additional projects for 5 local businesses and has plans for 10 additional assignments by the end of June 2006. The center is continuously recruiting new clients to assist them with management/business issues and new interns who are interested in gaining first-hand business experience.
